Pavel Gililov (Russia)

Nato nell'ex Unione Sovietica, ha tenuto il suo primo concerto con orchestra all'età di otto anni.
Il suo straordinario talento musicale fu scoperto da Dimitri Kabalewsky, la cui raccomandazione gli consentì di studiare al Conservatorio di San Pietroburgo, dove si sarebbe diplomato con distinzione.
Gililov vinse il Concorso Nazionale di Mosca nel 1972, il prestigioso Concorso Internazionale "Chopin" di Varsavia nel 1975 e il Premio Viotti nel 1978: da lì è cominciata una straordinaria carriera concertistica che ha toccato le principali città del mondo.
Ospite dei Festivals di Salisburgo, Schleswig-Holstein ed Edinburgo, dal 1997 è direttore artistico di "Sommerclassics", festival musicale in Rhineland-Palatinate.
Pavel Gililov è titolare di cattedra alla Musikhochschule di Colonia ed insegna al Mozarteum di Salsburgo. Viene inoltre regolarmente invitato a tenere corsi di perfezionamento in tutta Europa e in Oriente ed è direttore artistico del Concorso Pianistico Internazionale "Beethoven" di Bonn.

Prof. Pavel Gililov, who was born in the former Soviet Union, gave his first concert with an orchestra at the age of eight.
His extraordinary musical talent was discovered by Dimitri Kabalewsky, on whose recommendation he began his studies in St. Petersburg (Leningrad), where he graduated with distinction.
Pavel Gililov already won the national piano competition in Moscow as a student in 1972; he thereupon began his solo career. In 1975, he won the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw and, in 1978, the International Viotti Piano Competition in Vercelli. In the same year, Gililov emigrated to the West and has since been pursuing his concert career with leading orchestras in the main cultural capitals of the world.
Pavel Gililov is a welcome guest at important music festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, Edinburgh Music Festival and others. Since 1997, he has been Artistic Director of the Sommerclassics, a music festival in Rhineland-Palatinate.
In addition to teaching a piano master class at the Cologne Musikhochschule, Pavel Gililov is a Visiting Professor at the Mozarteum Summer Academy in Salzburg and runs several master classes throughout Europe and the Far East.
He is the Artistic Director of the "Beethoven" International Piano Competition in Bonn.
